Nellore cloned calf viability during the postnatal period

ABSTRACT: This study evaluated the viability of Nellore cloned calves derived from somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) and compare their with animals same breed in vitro fertilization (IVF). Thus, two groups were formed. Group I (GI) consisted 10 SCNT group II (GII) IVF. The differences detected between physical examination respiratory tract GI, which represented most common clinical-pathological disturbances. Apgar index score indicated that 80% GI depressed all had pale mucous membranes. anemia was reported GI. In GII, this started at 12 h life probably caused by an iron deficiency. Moreover, total calcium ionized levels higher immediately after birth. These alterations resulted a high incidence mortality reaching 90% calves, whereas only 20% for GII. conclusion, SCNT, physiological metabolic delivery, leading to rate during perinatal period.
